Art Deco

Characterized by rich colors and bold geometric shapes, this eclectic, classic style from the 1930’s is everlasting.

The style is often characterized by rich colors, bold geometric shapes, and lavish ornamentation with influences of Art Nouveau, Cubism, Futurism, Modernism, Neo-Classicism and Bauhaus. During its heyday, Art Deco represented luxury, glamor, exuberance, and faith in social and technological progress.
Change Style:

Deco emerged from the Interwar period when rapid industrialization was transforming culture.

One of its major attributes is an embrace of technology. This distinguishes Deco from the organic motifs favored by its predecessor Art Nouveau. Bevis Hillier first used the actual term, ‘Art Deco’, in 1968 in his book ‘Art Deco of the 20's and 30s’. Miami is well known for its abundance of Art Deco architecture.
