Tips from Mae Spence
Never paint a ceiling white! If you’re too afraid of color, have your paint store make a 50% formula with your wall color to get the perfect shade of off white.
The fun doesn’t have to stop there. Consider painting your stairs, floors and doors to add pops of colors in unexpected places. It will add color to your room without too much of a commitment. In the same way that adding a bright pair of shoes can completely change the look and feel of a black outfit, adding fun color on the trim or certain wall panels will liven up the space.
That being said, when painting rooms that open onto others, avoid using dramatically different colors or else the rooms will look too segregated and choppy, which will make the spaces feel smaller.
