It’s Amazing What a Gallon of Paint Can Do
One weekend is all it takes to create dramatic change to a room’s decor. Well that, a gallon or two of paint, and some creativity! Whether your home’s style is new traditional, chic urbanite, or coastal-inspired, these easy paint projects are guaranteed to revitalize your space.
Turn it Upside-Down
Drench your ceiling a bright hue, such as a beguiling Caribbean blue, while leaving your walls a crisp white. You’ll be left with an airy space that can skew coastal depending on how it is styled.
Add an Accent
Painting the wall that gets the most sunlight in an eye-catching color, such as a vivid pink, will suffuse the remaining white walls with a soft echo of your chosen hue. Great for just about any room in the house, this quick change injects a lot of personality.
Focus on the Details
Don’t let gorgeous molding and trim languish unappreciated! Differentiate those elements from the surrounding walls with a light or bright hue. Take it a step further by painting the walls a complementary shade.
Forget the Walls
Painting doors and doorways is a great way to update your home’s decor as well as add a healthy dose of sophistication. In this project, include the door’s frame in your makeover to avoid a floating door effect. Additionally, when choosing a color, remember that, while contrast is a good thing, ideally the shade is one that harmonizes with the room’s existing palette. However, the current trend is to paint interior doors black, and, though as bold as you can get, the look is undeniably fabulous.
Stairway Star
Your home’s workhorse can also be a showstopper thanks to some freshening up. Paint the risers, steps, or even create a runner in your color of choice. You can even take it to the next level and wash everything in white, then paint the spindles or banister in a playful tone.
