Skovby

Skovby, masters of Danish design, have been designing and building modern furniture since 1933.

Founded by cabinetmaker Thorvald Rasmussen, Skovby is now in its third generation in the hands of the Rasmussen family. The company specializes in dining room furniture, and is especially known for their innovative extension tables, created in line with Skovby’s “design by function” philosophy. Their streamlined, quintessentially Scandinavian forms are inspired by their intended purposes and styled to meet specific needs. The design team, led by longtime designer Per Hånsbæk, works under the same roof as the furniture makers, helping ensure a shared vision and minimal waste across the company. All Skovby furniture is built using natural materials, locally sourced whenever possible, and leftover wood is recycled into fuel. All of this contributes toward Skovby’s pursuit of a carbon neutral production process, making its furniture as virtuous as it is beautiful.
